It’s never too early…

to start driving yourself insane.  Thanksgiving, Round 2, ding ding ding!

Summer lovin’, had me a tomato

I could wax in-eloquently about ripe juicy peaches and nectarines, perfect cherries, blueberries and blackberries, tomatoes, zucchini, beans, cucumbers, plus watermelon, squash, etc.  But I won’t.  Instead, I’ll just say – you should be eating these things.  Now.  And lots of them.  Until you’re sick of them.  Because once the season is over, it’s not [...]

Taste the shortwave rainbow

I know I’m mixing up my candy slogans, sorry.  If I were someone important, someone who’s whims must be obeyed, say, a musical pop star, my backstage rider would specify that only the RED and PINK and, in certain instances, purple versions of my favorite candies would be permitted.  For example, red and purple Skittles, [...]

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland

The photos I’ve seen are only moderately disturbing so far – does anyone else think that Johnny Depp, as the Mad Hatter, is reprising his Edward Scissorhands look?

Do-Gooding Made (VERY) Easy

1. Free Kibble will donate 10* pieces of kibble to animal shelters for every correctly answered trivia question per day (you can only play once per day).  If you can’t manage to click a link and pick an answer once a day, may God have mercy on your evil soul.
*I like to imagine helper monkeys counting [...]

Juxtaposition

Anyway, while browsing around various online outlets (why does Williams Sonoma have their [...]

Maybe they were just budding entrepreneurs

Elementary school boys, second grade to be precise, were found with packets of heroin.   One boy supposedly spit it out quickly after tasting it.  Must have been a quality issue.   Take home lesson?  Don’t buy drugs from second graders.   Seek out the fifth graders, instead.

Another preachy PSA – avoid HFCS

I really love the commercials from the Corn Refiners Association, extolling the “safety” of high-fructose corn syrup, which is “fine” in moderation.  Really, are they fooling anyone?   High-fructose corn syrup may have the same calories as sugar but it is anything but “natural,” despite the recent FDA ruling that it could be labeled as such.
But [...]

Jump start the economy – buy some brownies*

Hmm…do I mention my month-long hiatus or just leave it to your imaginations?  Probably much more interesting because I don’t really have anything to say other than: holidays, etc. etc.  The news coverage is dominated by THE ECONOMY and OBAMA and there, unfortunately, has not been a lot of hilariously random stuff going on.
But, in [...]

Flip Opens Tomorrow

So Richard Blais left Home (I finally ate there shortly before he did) but is now ready to open Flip, a nouveau burger joint.  Liquid nitrogen milk shakes (including a Krispy Kreme flavor) and upscale burgers (I hear rumors of a Kobe beef burger at a ridiculous price for a burger) and other take offs [...]
